I was born on July 1, 1950. I am the second son of Late Mr. Mahesh Chandra Regmi and Late Mrs. Mana Devi Regmi. Mr. Mahesh Chandra Regmi was the first Nepali to receive Ramon Magsaysay Award of Philippines for Journalism, Literature and Creative Communication Arts in 1977. Government of Nepal issued a postage stamp in 2007 recognizing his work. I completed Master Degree in Political Science from Allahabad University, India in 1976. I then came back to Nepal and joined Tribhuwan University as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Political Science.

I was posted in Mechi Campus (Eastern part of Nepal) and then later promoted as the Examination Chief in the Institute of Humanities and Social Science, TribhuwanUniversity, Kathmandu. I was later transferred to Saraswati Multiple Campus and after few years transferred again to Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies, Tribhuwan University as a Lecturer. After spending few months there, I was transferred to the Department of Social Science, Kirtipur. I was transferred back to Saraswati Multiple Campus and was Head of the Department of Political Science, Saraswati Multiple Campus for about six years. At the moment I am working as an Associate Professor in Saraswati Multiple Campus. I am also an active member of the Political Science Subject Committee, Tribhuwan University.

Being a guide has been my long term passion. 1970 was the first years I started guiding tourists in Nepal. I work as a free lancer in this field. I have guided tourists from many countries like U.S.A., Russia, Canada, Britain, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh, India, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, South Africa, Taiwan, Germany, Austria, Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, New Zealand, Denmark, China, Thailand, Chile, Pakistan, Israel and Sri Lanka. I have also written 16 books till now. Two books are on foreign policy of Nepal and rests of the books are text books which have been prescribed as Text Books in different Colleges and Universities.

From my experiences, I have found tourists more interested in getting information about marriage, caste system, culture, art and architecture and traditions of Nepalese people. They want to know how the Nepali people live and what they do from morning till evening? Which is the biggest festival for Nepalese? What they carry when they visit temples? Why the dresses of Gents and Ladies are different in different places, even in Kathmandu Valley? Why the eyes of some Nepali people are wide and some of them have less opened eyes? Why there is smile in their face? Why they are so helpful and cooperative? They are not that much interested in seeing new things. So the book "Facts about Nepal" was the result of my 40 years of experiences in this guiding field. In this book, I have tried to include all the information which a tourist wants to know when they travel to Nepal. It is my hope that tourists who are interested in knowing Nepal in depth will find this book interesting and educational. Any comments and suggestions regarding this book will be highly appreciated.
